Nevada high court rules for public access to retirement records

OCTOBER 23, 2018 | by Natalie Bruzda | LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL

“The Nevada Supreme Court on Thursday ruled 4-3 on the side of the public’s right to know the retirement benefits of state employees in a high-profile public records case that began three years ago. …'The law is very clear that governments work for the people, and their records are public,' he said. 'We always thought that that was very clear, and it’s nice to see the court reiterate that. But it speaks to a broader problem. You can write the best law imaginable, but if you have no penalty for people who ignore it, it’s not going to be followed.'"
