Chicago officials should honor pension promise

They are told when they go to the retirement seminar what they will receive, and now Mr. Reeder suggests that we not honor those promises made. Can we as a society not honor our obligations? Where does that line of thought come from? Chicago has endured the misfortune of having some bad management look at the parking-meter deal, which was sold for ten cents on the dollar. What could have been done with an additional $9 billion? Robert Service said, 'A promise made is a debt unpaid.' …”
