Do you trust your state government? According to 2014 information from TIA’s State Data Lab, your answer may vary greatly based on the state you live in. While most states’ populations reported an average of about 60 percent trust in government, Illinois residents reported an abysmal 28 percent trust in their state. Rhode Island and Maine tie for the second least amount of trust, both with 40 percent of their residents having faith in their governments.

Which state was the most trusted? At 77 percent, North Dakota came out on top, followed closely by Wyoming (76 percent) and Utah (75 percent). Perhaps Illinois should take some pointers from these states and regain their residents’ trust.
